Thomas is a Kindergarten Graduate

What a crazy quick year it has been!  It seems like we were just wrapping up summer vacation and all the first time school jitters were here.  Fast forward a really quick 177 days…right?!…and here we are at the start of summer!

Thomas had a great first year of school!  We are so proud of all that he accomplished in this year.  He was a great classroom helper, a leader, a good friend, a wonderful student, kind and most of all he went ready to learn everyday!  IMG_0068

In this first year he learned so much!  His biggest accomplishment is he learned how to read!  He started kindergarten with knowing most of his letters and by the end of the year he is reading, writing and even spelling some words!  Wow! Wow! Wow!  A few weeks ago he picked up a book and just started to read it.  He needed help with a few words to sound them out, but were we impressed!

Another major accomplishment was his math skills!  His teacher cannot stop bragging on his natural ability with his math and how it is an “area of strength for him.”   June 20161It is fun to take a couple numbers and ask Thomas to add or subtract them!  He’s also learned a tiny bit of multiplication…wild what they are learning in Kindergarten now!

Finally, Thomas had a great year with his teacher Mrs. Mahmoud!  He loved her from the bottom of his heart and she always made him feel loved and welcomed in her classroom.  There was a bit of a rough patch when she went out for maternity leave for 8 weeks and we noticed a difference in his desire to go to school for those weeks, but he survived!

June 2016Congratulations Thomas on a great start to your education! IMG_0069

In the last few weeks few weeks of school we have been busy bees!  He had a family picnic where we all got to go and have lunch with the kids.  There was field day where the kids played and got soaking wet in outdoor games!  Finally Thomas had the end of the year party on the last day of school!  June 20161
