Tuesday Concert Randomness

So who were the lucky concert goers? Allison and I! Who did we see??? MADONNA! Here is our one handed "strike a pose." Mike and Tim were texting us funny Madonna one liners as we were getting ready for the show...our favorite was from both of them...Vogue..Vogue...Vogue!

Allison and I had talked about going on Saturday night but tickets were already sold out. Well that was just not so. On Tuesday Al called and she had found tickets for a steal of a deal. They were 18 rows up on the right side of the stage :-) We were in!

We headed downtown and grabbed a couple mojitos at the Samba Room and then headed over to see Madonna. What a fun show to go to. Madonna was great and she played some of my favorite songs. We also got to take a picture with some dudes Madonna poster!I am going to post a quick link to the video I got of her playing Like a Prayer! This was my first cassette tape so many years ago...what a great memory!

Dogs, Dinners, and Fun!

Friday night Mike and I went to dinner at Sabor Latino up in the Highlands. Then our friends Rick and Katie stopped over to introduce us to their new puppy. Katie got a 10 week old black lab puppy on Friday and she wanted to see what he would do with another "puppy." Stella was pretty confused at such a little animal and liked looking down on him (one of my favorite things she does this to the cats, people, and other dogs).
Saturday after a day of running around getting random things done, Mike and I headed to dinner at Tim and Allison's house. We had fantastic stuffed squash-I will post the recipe and pictures if Al emails them :-) The real excitement of the night was playing the new PictonaryMan game. It was so much fun and would be a great Christmas gift for any of your friends that like game night!
Sunday we joined our friends at the Ogden St. South for a friendly afternoon at the bar watching the Vikings play the Packers. Even thought Mike and I live out here in CO we have managed to find many friends that are all from the Midwest! So it is always fun when there is a big game to get together and it is a great excuse for a Sunday Funday. We then went to the park. It turned out to be very entertaining watching some people practice "ummm karate or something." If only the pictures could show you the true comedy! We also randomly met one of Stella's brothers. A guy came up to us with a blue great dane puppy and we started to talk and realized that they were brother and sister. Both Boss's owner and Mike and I agreed that it seemed like they new each other. We have exchanged information and hopefully we will be able to meet up and let them play together again. The one picture that I did get of them didn't turn out...darn!

Why do you save those?

On our sink I have a bottle that is collecting the tabs from pop cans. Every once in awhile I get a friend who is over who is wondering why I am saving them. I always answer for the Ronald McDonald House and then I usually get "they do that" or "they STILL do that?" Yes they still do that, so it is a simple way that you can make a difference in someones life. Here is the website for Denver and for Rochester Minnesota so if you want to help you can figure out how to turn in your pop tops!

Pretty Puppy

Just wanted to update with some pictures of Stella...she is now 4 and a half months and 49 lbs. She is growing steadily and we are having a hard time predicting where she will stop, but the vet thinks between 140-160 based on her parents. Like I told my mom tonight if that is the case she is a 1/3 of the way there :-)
We also had a BIG day today! She stayed home alone out of her kennel while I was at work. She was out of her kennel for 4 hours today and she did great. Not one naughty chew (she really doesn't do this even when we are home), and not one accident! What a big puppy!

Another Pumpkin Party!

Last weekend Mike and I took a break from getting house and wedding stuff done to enjoy a night out with our friends. We headed over to a buddies house where his girlfriend had made an authentic Persian dinner. It was ohhh soooo yummy and I have had a hard time finding yogurt sauce and Kabobs that I like!
We then headed to a dive bar in Denver called Bushwhackers to watch a band play. It was such a fun night spent with some great friends.
We were suppose to carve pumpkins but in all of the fun we "forgot!"

Squirrels!!!!

Our little friends also loved our fall decorations. So far they have eaten all 5 ears of decorative corn, 3 small pumpkins, 4 gourds, and now they are working on 1 of the 3 big pumpkins :-) Obviously, they don't like the "squirrel" food that we have been feeding them all summer!

Sunday Funday

Reid, Nikki, and Ella came over to play. While Stella and Ella played the day away, the four of us headed on a hunt to find a "pick your own pumpkin" patch. After searching the internet and finding out that most were going to be about a 45 minute drive, we decided to head to the "Great American Pumpkin Patch." We piled into the car and drove 20 minutes to the "great" pumpkin patch, and then we realized that it was the same thing that was 3 blocks from our house! So we headed back to our side of town and got pumpkins that benefited Habitat For Humanity. We went back to our house and made Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, watched football, and carved our pumpkins. Mike and Reid supported their college days by Mike carving the Sioux head and Reid carving the Wisconsin Badgers "W." Nikki and I stayed traditional and carved our best faces!

Mike's New Toy

Saturday Stella, Mike, and I headed up to Fort Collins to pick up his new toy. Before we went and got it, we met up with his lifelong buddy John and had lunch. We then headed over to a friends so he could get his brand new toy...a snowmobile.
He has promised to be very careful and I trust him driving more than some of his buddies...so I am ok with it I guess. It is a little different out here in CO when you are snowmobiling, you aren't worried about snow drifts, barbed wire, and the ditches...your worried about causing an avalanche. I also have rationalized this purchase with the fact that in the case of something happening when the guys are on their back country ski adventures...a snowmobile will get them help a lot sooner than hiking or skiing down. So hopefully I don't regret him purchasing this toy!

Stella is 4 Months

Stella is now four months old and a small 45 pounds. She continues to grow and we enjoy her growing personality.
Here are some of her updated pictures. Notice her ears...they really continue to grow and her head just doesn't seem to be able to catch up!
She also continues to be our money pit and seems to be a big klutz. We have become a familiar face at the vet :-) Our latest accident was a small cute on her toe.
