Once again I find myself writing about all of Thomas’ new things and I can’t believe he is yet another month old.
This past month Thomas has really started to come into his own and is developing his personality so much more!
He is a really happy little guy, who as Grandma Kathy says is happy but if he isn’t he is really going to let you know!
His main two things that he dislikes are being hot and being in his car seat (because his back gets hot). With the temperatures in July being in the 90s we have had little relief from the heat. So California was a much needed escape and then on the few days that is has been cooler out we go out and enjoy them. If not we are inside or doing inside activities as much as possible during the day and the heat. We have a new setup in my car, it is a musical light thing and a “trucker” fan-the first day we put the fan in Thomas fell asleep without making a peep!
Thomas has some new loves in his life. He loves himself :-) He loves talking to himself in the mirror and just cracks himself up smiling and cooing back and forth with the “really amazing looking baby in the mirror.”
He loves his colorful teething ring. Anything he can get into his mouth, whether it is a wet washcloth, fingers, his hands, any toy, anything really.
He is also loving grabbing at everything. Gone are the days were we can eat a meal without worrying about him grabbing at it-I figured this out while eating a turkey sandwich!
On Sunday July 25th, 2010 Thomas spent the first night in his crib. This was a hard step for mommy. First, because he still is waking up a couple times a night to eat, and second, JUST BECAUSE. I knew I would have a hard time switching on my own (at least this early) and so when a friend who had twins called and asked to borrow the co-sleeper I was ok with this…thinking it wouldn’t be until August. When the babies came sooner than expected, I kept true to my word and still let her have the sleeper :-) So we graduated him to his own room. He did this transition well. All month I have been putting him in his crib more and more often. First to play, then for his afternoon naps, then both naps, and finally for night time. Whew another hard step down…a zillion more to go!
Thomas now giggles. It is so funny and sometimes the most random things make him laugh, but it is adorable, and Mike and I love hearing it!
Thomas also really loves anything that can get him moving, with the exception to rolling a ton. He likes to be on his tummy, so rolling from his tummy to his back only happens by accident, and then he gets very upset when he gets stuck on his side and can’t get back to his tummy. He also likes standing up and hanging out. Another skill that he has is that he is able to do a tripod supported sit…everyday he sits for longer periods of time and is able to use his hands for a few seconds before he topples over.
He is much more talkative lately too. Still only a fluke “M” sound other than that it is just vowels that he coos and some back throat sounds. He will go back and forth talking up a storm with himself in mirror or anyone who will smile and talk back to him. He is still having trouble figuring out why the dogs (Maggie has been here most of the month) won’t talk back to him. He also has a high pitch squeal that “mike calls his girl scream.”
He
had is 4 month well baby visit on Thursday where he got another shot. The little guy did great and he was so surprised by the shot-that he never even had a chance to cry! Whew-I can only hope all of them would go that easy. I can’t say the same fore the aftermath-slight fever and just sort of off. He was 14 lbs 6.4 oz (50%), and was 25 and 1/4 inches long (75%). Mike gave him a sticker for being such a big boy! (don’t mind the cloth diaper attempt-we had a bit of a rash so we needed to dry him out a bit)
Uncle Troy also moved to California and Uncle Pat moved back to Denver. It made Thomas both Sad and happy.
