Christmas morning I woke up to find Mike was already out in the living room waiting to see the kids reactions. I was the next up, and the kiddos were happily snoozing away. Too funny, maybe next year like us, they will be too excited to sleep.
Anyway, once awake we reminded Thomas that he needed to check if Santa had brought he and Elin anything. He hurried into the living room and saw that there was a present wonderland.
That is when the morning started. Elin was much more enthralled with the wrapping paper and Thomas moved quickly into his presents and wanted to start playing with each one. We took our time playing with Santa’s toys, then Skyping with the Laschen side of the family and opening a few gifts, before having breakfast and Elin took her morning nap. Then it was more present opening, and more present opening. We were all well spoiled with the gifts we had under the tree. After lunch and naps we started a fire and continued to play and open gifts. It was a long lazy day of playing and it was so nice to not have to leave the house.
Admittedly, it was hard to be away from our own families, and even harder to not let them see all the excitement when the kiddos opened their gifts. Being home and “home” for Christmas has its pros and cons. Maybe we will be on an every other year schedule..only time will tell what next year brings. Hope everyone had a great Christmas with those they love. Mike’s Mom, Nana Kathy also sent the kids their Christmas ornaments. This year Thomas got a truck stocking and his one from last year was a Otter. Elin got a bright pink stroller for her first Christmas ornament. They are all beautiful and so much fun to put on the tree. Thomas loved looking at his ornaments and showing everyone “his own” ornaments. We also put the kiddos handprints on the tree skirt. It is so fun to see the little hands and how much they are growing from year to year. I had my camera out and just had to capture the “cutest sad face around.” Elin is quite expressive and getting a good set of lungs on her too. She loves to scrunch up her nose as she starts to show you she is upset. Might be a face only a Mother/Father or Grandparent could love!?
