Mike and a few buddies headed out for their annual year end fishing trip. Their first stop was near Steamboat, where they camped and fished the Yampa River. This was a successful start to their fishing trip as they each caught several fish. Next was Jackson Hole, 4 guys crammed into 1 tiny truck cab, with a long road trip ahead of them (7 hours).
They were planning on going all the way there, but decided to stop and grab a hotel about 50 miles out. The next day they made into Jackson Hole, where they fished in three different places: the Snake River, Flat Creek, and Buffalo River. They each caught several rainbow trout and snake river cutthroats, but no one caught the elusive big whoppers!
Mike had a great time on his trip and said it was one of his top 5 outdoor experiences. He said it was surreal that they were the only ones in the water (around them at least) and had river otters, elk, and moose all crossing the river within hundreds of feet. The guys were also able to catch a night on the town in Jackson Hole to wrap up the fishing season.
