On Thursday Mike’s Grandparents and Thomas’ Great Grandparents came into town to start off our Christmas’.
Thursday night we ordered in and relaxed around the house. Friday we were off and running. After breakfast, Thomas and Mike stayed back while, Joan, Larry, and I went to do some shopping. Then we made dinner and enjoyed the evening at home.
Saturday we headed to the Denver Science Museum. Thomas was sleeping when we got there, so we snuck into a IMAX movie. A little over half way he woke up and was wondering why he was under water! Then we were off to tour the exhibits. First we headed to the animal exhibits, it was kind of like a “dead zoo.” At least the animals were all cooperating and visible.
Then we toured the health exhibit. We were able to check our heartbeats and our gaits among other things. We found out that with help Thomas walks 0.7 MPH
Then it was off to see the dinosaurs! What was really interesting, to me at least, was to see the Ice Age Bison Skull that has been recently found in the Snowmass Village Dig. Can you imagine the painstakingly slow process to unearth fossils…these people sitting here have some serious dedication…and we all benefit from it.
We then took a ride to Egypt and saw a few mummies, before heading to the Amazon River. Thomas kept us safe and wrestled an anaconda, whew!
Sunday night we were a hit when we went to Morton’s Steakhouse with the little guy. He is sure a crowd pleaser and loves showing off how well he can behave (We hope this continues). He enjoys “acting big” and sitting in his highchair, drinking from his cup, listening to the waiters, and eating food off our plates. Morton’s staff and food also made it my new favorite steak house in Denver. When I needed a place to nurse Thomas, they allowed me into their office. The matradee (general manager) said farewell to us with a “come back again soon, but if the little guy isn’t with, your not welcome!” Guess I know what I am pushing for on our next with child date!
Sunday we relaxed and made a Coke and Jack Daniels ham and Mr. Dell’s potatoes…it was a fabulous combination! Then it was time to open presents. Thomas loved climbing, tearing, and eating his presents. Thanks J and Stiffy for everything and all the memories!
