Crazy morning at the locks-cars lots of fish

We had heard that the salmon ladder was filled with fish so very early we headed down trying to avoid the crowd.  That we did and we ended up having a really interesting experience.  Right after we parked we noticed all these strange cars covered in different “themes.”  I took a  few pictures, scratched my head and didn’t think anything of it.  MayJuneJuly20131

Collages1We headed into the locks and right away noticed all the salmon that were jumping out of the water.  You can see them flying through the air and then you know that you should also see a sea lions head pop out shortly.  Up near the salmon ladder entrance there is also usually a heron waiting to pick off some of the smaller fish.  It never ceases to amaze me the journey that the Atlantic Salmon make, nature is really powerful thing. After seeing some of the salmon in the viewing windows we headed out and noticed more cars.  It was apparently a part of the summer solstice weekend and these were “art cars.”  There were some wild ones, I liked the yarn car that was made out of hundreds of feet of yarn.  There was also the Chewbaru which was filled with all things pertaining to teeth and dentists.  Mike and I also realized we are ok with driving our plane black and silver cars.
