Elin’s Birthday Celebration

We had a few friends over to celebrate Elin’s first birthday.  It was an unbirthday birthday, last minute party.  The day started with Thomas and I happily playing with fondant and making Elin a farm theme cake.

She went with Mike to the grocery store and came home with a current favorite, a balloon, a giant pig head balloon.  She was a pretty happy little camper walking around with this giant pig.  April 20134

After naps the kiddos and I headed over to the park.  The neighbor boys, Whitney, Nathan, Dahlia and Reier joined us.  While the big kids played, Elin and Reier couldn’t keep their hands off one another.   After some park fun it was home to have dinner and we were then joined by Max and Amy.

After dinner we cleaned up and got ready to have cake.  Both Thomas and Elin were more than excited about getting their hands on the cake.  So excited in fact that we were not quick enough to blow out the candle and keep Elin’s quick hands from grabbing it.  Sad!  Poor girl got a little burn on her finger.  After a quick snuggle with nursing and a little bit of cold water she was good to go.  Sad!  Both Mike and I felt so bad.  Thanks Max for getting pictures of the whole fiasco.  We couldn’t believe how unmessy Elin was with her cake.  I should have taken a picture of her from dinner as she was covered from head to toe in food.  Then it was the picture time for cake chaos and she was eating like a pristine little lady, silly.  April 20136

After playtime in the basement everyone was ready for bed.  What a fun unbirthday birthday!
